Made a visit into Walsall Town Centre to do a bit of urban photography, it was hot, and people filled the centre with colour. Happy shoppers, and those just window shopping and generally walking around to take advantage of the sunshine.

I have been walking past Walsall’s Old Hospital on the Wednesbury Road for a great many years now, and only quite recently did I notice a piece of an old tree, which had grown in to the fencing, the tree has now gone. However, the company who renovated the building into flats made a good job of cutting the tree away and leaving just a part of the tree remaining in the fence. I think this offers character and personality to the old building.

The builders and the tree surgeon must have recognised that they needed to leave something old behind to compliment the new, and something that is a talking point too. If you are ever in the area take a look at it, it’ll be worth it.

Change taking place right in front of your eyes. The Pleck area in Walsall continues to change, not only in its buildings, but also with its demographics too.

Since moving to Walsall in 1992, I have been visiting St. Matthew’s Church, although I am not religious. I will never tire of going there and taking photographs. I have taken that many photos of the place that it could be considered as obsessive.

I have even researched the place, and according to  what I have read. Before the church was built, there used to be a windmill on the site. I was pleased to read this, because in the city where I am from, I used to live close to a windmill called Green’s Mill and I had the opportunity of working there for a few months in the very early 1980s. When I mention this to people, they do not believe me, at least I know that I did work in a windmill, and that is good enough for me.

There is only one windmill in Walsall, which has survived the years. In the 1920s it was converted into an observatory.  It is situated in someone sack garden now, in Caldmore.

Each time I visit St. Matthew’s Church, I always seem to find something new, or see something I have never seen before, which is odd considering the amount of times I have visited the place, on the other hand, it is also exciting too, because the half hour walk there is worthwhile, despite, today, the poor weather conditions and poor light conditions for taking photos.

Took this picture of the street by me, becasue the sky looked so enchanting.

I am really pleased with these photos.

Took a walk into Walsall Town Centre to visit the, much hyped about, Italian Market, the food they are selling is very colourful indeed. It was raining for most of the time I was in Walsall Town Centre, so I cannnot imagine who their trade was doing. They are here in Walsall from Italy for two days. For those with cars, there will be free parking on Saturday, wow…we have a kind council here in Walsall…., shame I don’t own a car, I would love to take advantage of the free parking.

The main Walsall Market, much larger, was taking place just further along Park Street, where the Italian Market was taking place.

Walked in to Walsall for Remembrance Day, or Remembrance Sunday, lots of people about and young cadets to looking very patriotic in their uniforms. So I took a few photos, and I am, at long last, pleased with one of my a photos. My photographic skills are getting better.
